Welcome!

This blog has been a long time coming. For the past few months, a friend has been urging me to get started. But I was resistant. Something about blogging made me a bit uneasy… In some ways it seemed to come close to replacing a relationship with God for many people who don’t have a particular faith. It gives the writer a sense that someone out there, somewhere, is reading, knowing and understanding their innermost thoughts. The idea felt strange to me, and a little sad and presumptuous.

But now that I’m finally getting to it, I think I’ll wind up getting more out of this blog than my friend will. Regardless of who does read this, reaching out and connecting isn’t sad or presumptuous—it’s hopeful and deeply human. And maybe writing here will put me back on the film track, which I’ve been off in recent years. So, thanks for the push, BD.
